USWNT April Matches: Everything You Need to Know
The U.S. Women’s National Team faces Japan in three consecutive matches; Sophia Wilson, Tierna Davidson make their returns

The U.S. Women’s National Team is set to compete in three matches during the April FIFA international window as the squad continues its preparation for 2027 FIFA Women’s World Cup qualification later this year.
Here’s everything you need to know about the April matches:
The USWNT will play three consecutive matches against Japan, a long-time rival that recently qualified for the 2027 FIFA Women's World Cup by winning the 2026 Women’s AFC Asian Cup. The USA has long held the edge in this series with an overall record of 32W-2L-8D since the teams first met in July 1986. The USA and Japan have faced each other nine times in the World Cup and the Olympics, including three consecutive championship matches. The April matches will feature two of the top-ranked teams in the world, as the USA is currently second and Japan is fifth in the Coca-Cola FIFA Women’s World Rankings.
All three matches will be played in NWSL venues starting at 5:30 p.m. ET on April 11, at PayPal Park in San Jose, Calif, home to Bay FC. The teams will head to Lumen Field in Seattle, Wash., home to Seattle Reign FC on April 14 at 10 p.m. ET. The final match will be at 9 p.m. ET on April 17, at DICK’S Sporting Goods Park in Commerce City, Colo., home to Denver Summit FC.
Head coach Emma Hayes last week named the 26-player April roster that marked the return of two players who add a tremendous amount of experience to the U.S. roster as both have played in World Cup and Olympic tournaments. Forward Sophia Wilson makes her first USWNT roster in 17 months following her pregnancy and the birth of her daughter in early September 2025. Defender Tierna Davidson has also made a complete recovery from an ACL injury and returns to the USWNT after a 13-month absence.
The U.S. roster features 23 field players and three goalkeepers, including the return of veteran Jane Campbell, who has the most caps of the three ‘keepers on the roster with 10. U.S. head coach Emma Hayes will suit up 23 players for each of the three matches. Twenty-three-year-old forward Michelle Cooper, having recovered from injuries, also returns to the roster for the first time in 2026.
The USWNT will compete for the first time in the new Stars and Stripes kits in the April matches. The team will wear the Stars kit in San Jose and Commerce City and the Stripes kit in Seattle.
Yes, all three matches will be broadcast and streamed on TNT, truTV and HBOMax in English, and on Universo and Peacock in Spanish. The matches will also be available in English on the radio on Westwood One.
